  •  Looks like you do have an opinion, and that (57+ / 0-)

you disapprove of the disapproval. Duly noted. But perhaps, in your indifference to the blatantly unconstitutional, GOP-approved approach to surveillance the Obama administration, you might say WHY you don't think it's a big deal, or WHY you have such a strong opinion about the "false and misleading" title.

As for the American public: They've been lied to for so long it's natural that they might be confused when their so-called liberal, transformational president is the Constitution-be-damned authoritarian security state incarnation of Bush-Cheney.

But at this rate, now that the lies, abuses, and secrecy are being exposed, they will slowly come to realize it IS a big deal.

Obama?  It is up to Congress to redo The Patriot Act into something that is more acceptable.

Where was everyone as the Patriot Act was reauthorized?  To everyone who is now "outraged" what did you write to your Senators and Congressman at that time?  Or was it crickets?

Also let's find out what is really going on here.  The WaPo has already completely rewritten it's original story without so much as a mention that they have done so.  They have walked back any claim of "direct access" to servers.

The Tech Press has been pointing out not just the shoddy journalism at WaPo and NYT for not properly vetting sources but also some of the crazy claims around the actual technology in todays world.

So far, nothing about this story is new news.  So why now are so many upset and buying into the Alex Jones like conspiracy theories of Glenn Greenwald?  There now are jokes going around about how the NSA is listening to all the calls we all make.  That is preposterous if you think about it.  And as far removed from reality as the Death Panels are from the ACA.  This is the kind of thing that will be poison to a sane and sober discussion of how we balance privacy and security.

      Congressional elections have consequences!

time of each of the various reauthorizations. But the Dem and MSM establishment saw to it that all naysayers were silenced or ignored. And lots of people right here on DKos told us to STFU lest we undermine our dear Democratic Party reps and play into the hands of our enemies.

So... the time for being quiet is over. No time like the present to push back on this undemocratic crap.

So I'll assume you did NOT complain about it at the time, and that you were perfectly happy swallowing the line that we needed it to keep us safe?
