I wish I had shut it off before the last 30 seconds.

But why are Democrats conceding the argument on Reagan?  Obama talks about him like he's a brother from another mother!  "He changed the trajectory of America."
Ugh. Maher is smart enough to know better. I understand why supporters of Obama's 2008 primary opponents willfully misinterpreted his remarks, but I'm not sure what point Maher thinks he's making there.

    Good rant otherwise.

2008 was not the last time Obama has ever mentioned Reagan in a speech.

      •  Perhaps, but Maher was (0+ / 0-)

quoting Obama's widely (and willfully) misinterpreted remarks from January 2008. If you Google his quote, many of the first results are from our own pie fights on the subject.

...were rather neutral on the subject; he was making a larger point about the times. I don't think it's that much of a stretch, though, what Maher did - given the President's future remarks on Reagan.

Yes, Maher used the specific quote as if it were praise (when it wasn't), but his own larger point wasn't wrong. I cringed a little when Maher said that, and this is pretty much why. I knew people would remember that the quote was not what Maher was presenting, and it would detract from his point.

Bad on Bill, but we should probably do him a solid and try to reach for the meaning rather than the gaffe. That's my take, anyway. I'll trust him not to turn into Fox News anytime soon.
