  •  tenth june - first hay (17+ / 0-)

on the locks. This is as late as I have ever seen it! The locks are my Daily Green , the major waterway leading across to the port of Amsterdam. I come across them every day now for roughly eight years. We had absurdly warm years  such as 2007 - when the first time the communal grass mower comes around was end of April. They mow grass and "make hay" but apart from the big lock´s flat green, it is not really used, just left lying on the berms. If thats good or not I have no idea. In any case, I have never yet seen it as late as this year, where it happened today, 10/06. Crows all over it, stalking through the flatlying cutoff - that must be full of little snacks for them. A gull was chasing a security officer away from a little corner of the powerplant, apparently he came too close to their home spot. He ran! Many many little crooks and niches of land escape the communal lawnman and stand high in grass. Nicest time of the year! Good night everyone!
