  •  It is about a man (7+ / 0-)

who had been in WWI and he is wandering through a desolate village in France where there is no water in the fountain and he finds a shepherd who invites him to stay the night and then he follows him the next day where he sees him planting acorns.

The shepherd tells him how many acorns he has planted.

Then after WWII, the man visits the area again and finds the village is back, there is water, and there are trees.

It is very touching.  It is based on a story by Jean Giono.
