    I followed your link but got a message the content is gone now.

    I understand why the defendant would be in the court room, at the table with his lawyers, as they select the jury.

    The reference to the "jury holding room" in that news report surprised me.

    I imagine a waiting room for potential jurors, with the defendant wandering around--maybe sitting there for the day with them, exchanging small talk.

    My imagination is probably way off base here.

    If the goal is to have jurors who have an open mind, it seems counter-productive to have the defendant meeting potential jurors one-on-one.

    Hence my bafflement.
