  •  on buying tools & the notorious hilti (0+ / 0-)

I have also acquired slow myself down I had the rule that if I did a repair in the house that would cost $100, I could spend $30 dollars on a tool.  Now I buy nice ones that will last.  The turning point was an underpowered cordless drill. After 10 years penance I bought a decent drill/driver pair.  Did you know there were tool blogs?  And even drill blogs?  It's actually a good thing, otherwise these guys would be annoying there wives with stories about theirdrills (I resemble that).  The blogs said makita was the best.  That year they revamped their line & cut prices in half.  I filled the basement with blue.

You speak of your hilti, which drives a nail with a .22 cal charge.  This was explored on "The Wire", and can be seen in a popular youtube clip, "Snoop buys a Hilti"

    •  Great story! (0+ / 0-)

Once I figured out the tool and got a "feel" for it, it was pretty fun to use. I actually need to go borrow it again once I build out the second phase of the project. I'm definitely checking out the Snoop link.
