    It was all Nimzo-indians, grunfelds, kings indians and benonis.  The closest you would see to a slav was a QGD and those were rare.

    I have always found it fun to analyze Najdorf Sicilians, both with and without books.  I have to say I'm intimidated a little by the modern Najdorf English attack lines with opposite wing castling but that is largely because I never studied the theory on those.  The Be3 lines are more natural for me.

    I wonder what surprises Carlsen and Anand are cooking up for each other, though it has to be said Carlsen wins a LOT without any opening novelties.

    I like Carlsen and expect he will beat Anand.  I will root for him, and also Nakamura, Aronian, Topalov and others.  Caruana and Karjakin both keep getting stronger, I wonder if they will grow strong enough to beat Carlsen.
