    They approached him for recruitment. He never had prior contact with or interest in them. I don't suppose they would overtly contact neighbors and teachers, kind of defeats the purpose of undercover work. But I'm sure there are plenty of ways to get lots of info on someone.

    I declined some local volunteer work because of the outrageously intrusive application process.
