Obama was on our side of this after his FISA votes in the Senate.

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) today announced his support for a sweeping intelligence surveillance law that has been heavily denounced by the liberal activists who have fueled the financial engines of his presidential campaign.

In his most substantive break with the Democratic Party's base since becoming the presumptive nominee, Obama declared he will support the bill when it comes to a Senate vote, likely next week, despite misgivings about legal provisions for telecommunications corporations that cooperated with the Bush administration's warrantless surveillance program of suspected terrorists.

This was in the Washington Post, June 20, 2008.
And in February, if he had gone and stood up for our 'freedoms' with his vote he might have meant something to me, but instead he felt it was more important to make a campaign date.
Obama missed the February vote on that FISA bill as he campaigned in the "Potomac Primaries," but issued a statement that day declaring "I am proud to stand with Senator Dodd, Senator Feingold and a grassroots movement of Americans who are refusing to let President Bush put protections for special interests ahead of our security and our liberty."
It was public knowledge how he felt and it just seems like so many Democrats went out of their way to deny it. Again I wonder, why?

Kinda reminds me of the people who didn't hear it when Obama mentioned during the debates that he and Romney were a lot closer together on Social Security than people might like to think.

Otherwise, they have to wake up from their denial that our nation is an oiligarchy, with a totalitarian state apparatus that operates probably purely for the sake of the Military Industrial Complex.

But what is wrong with a little tyranny, anyway?

I tried to answer that question from the standpoint of Gore Vidal, satirically speaking.
