  •  All Amendments deserve the same scrutiny and (11+ / 0-)

    even application.

Who says that violating the 4th is ok while the 2nd is inviolate because I have never heard that from any gun rights proponent....All I know, and I know quite a few, feel exactly like I do that the 4th is just as important as the second...

the main argument is that the 2nd is the enforcement mechanism for the rest.......That doesn't mean that many if not most 2A activists don't respect or protect the rest......

I'm sure that was true when the good guys had muskets and the bad guys had muskets, but we aren't there anymore. The government has everything from helicopter gunships to nuclear weapons and it takes a real stretch of the imagination to think NRA members can defeat that.

But the bigger point is that NRA members, just like the rest of us, have too big a stake in keeping the government in power.  We need Social Security and military retirement and bank deposit guarantees and a hundred other things and virtually nobody (the Governor of Texas excepted) is willing to give that up. So no battle between the AR15s and the gummit troops is going to occur.

The Second Amendment is not the enforcement mechanism for the rest, IMHO.
