My blood boils too.  This is so obviously wrong and very scary.  Problem is that they have so much power now.   They shut Occupy down real well and probably perfected some new techniques while doing so.  Makes me sick.

The elevation of appearance over substance, of celebrity over character, of short term gains over lasting achievement displays a poverty of ambition. It distracts you from what's truly important. - Barack Obama

      •  This is so wrong, I don't know where to start (0+ / 0-)

        They changed the entire conversation.

Prior to OWS, the was virtually no public discussion about wealth and income  disparities in the US.  The concept of the 99% vs the 1% ubiquitous now.

It could even be argued  that the Romney 47% comment was so damaging due to the OWS "meme".

        •  Changed the conversation? BFD. And then what? (1+ / 0-)

We need to change the situation.

          •  It is a BFD. (0+ / 0-)

Public mood is important.  Really important. Ask the people involved in the French Revolution.

Occupy Wall Street is more of a harbinger of future events -- a warning to the elites to clean up their act, if you will -- than it is an actual success.  But there has to be a first step before the next step is taken.  And it was the first step.

You are correct that the right question is "And then what?"  Before OWS, very few would be asking that question.  Now, many are asking that question.

Every single one of your comments in this thread is trollish.
"Occupy accomplished nothing", "Impeach Diane Feinstein"; "I wouldn't trust the ACLU".

+++ The law is a weapon used to bludgeon us peasants into submission. It is not to be applied to the monied elite.

        •  I never said I wouldn't trust the ACLU. If people (0+ / 0-)

think the ACLU's phones are tapped, they won't want to talk to them in a confidential manner. That's not trollish.  That's a reasonable statement.

Diane Feinstein is Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee.  I think she's doing a lousy job and should be relieved of her responsibilities.  I'd say it's probably a commonly shared opinion in the current environment.

Please detail for me one substantive change that has come about because of OWS.  I"m waiting to hear it.  I think it was a feel-good action that achieved none of the changes many progressives would like to see in our nation.  I would imagine that many thoughtful people might agree.
