  •  I spent (8+ / 0-)

most of my adult life playing music in (mostly) country music bars. Thousands of hours.  I would not set foot, not for one second, in an establishment that  served alcohol AND allowed concealed guns on the premises.  That's just fucking insane.

    •  Gawd, I KNOW ... it takes a whole new type of evil (6+ / 0-)

to come up with the idea that guns + alcohol = LET'S CELEBRATE FREEDOM!!

WTF? Seriously, WTF? I've spent five months talking with N.C. legislators and asking them for ANY shred of logic they might have to back up this bill ... and nothing. They have nothing except "Because Second Amendment!"

      •  well, and stats from other states that have (2+ / 0-)

allowed CCW in places that serve alcohol under certain restrictions.

Here in Az. we have a three tiered system.  We have unlimited open carry as long as you are a legal owner and not a prohibited possessor of some type.  Legal unpermitted concealed carry, again as long as you are not a PP.

Then we have our normal permit and permit process that is required to go into a place that serves alcohol and in some instances, like dropping off the kidlets, to carry without worry on a school campus though it doesn't allow carry in general on any school grounds....

I haven't read the particulars of your states legislation  but here a licensed carrier in a bar or anywhere that serves, can't have even one drink or the penalties are severe.  Unlicensed ccw in a bar is still illegal, only licensed carry, not sure if that's a limit on your states legislation or not.

Overall it has been a huge nothing.  No more people shot in bars than ever, no people suddenly concealed carrying that hadn't before, no blood in the streets.,...all that has happened is people can carry with less hassles.....

A good thing from my pov.....

        •  There should be hassles to carry (3+ / 0-)

          Lots of hassles.

If the pilot's good, see, I mean if he's reeeally sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low... oh you oughta see it sometime. It's a sight. A big plane like a '52... varrrooom! Its jet exhaust... frying chickens in the barnyard!

            •  Because (3+ / 0-)

For the same reason we don't let non-violent, law-abiding citizens wander the streets carrying vials of Anthrax.

              It's dangerous.

You're asking to walk around in public with a deadly, ranged weapon with maybe a few hours of instruction at from your local shooting range under your belt.

Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.

If the pilot's good, see, I mean if he's reeeally sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low... oh you oughta see it sometime. It's a sight. A big plane like a '52... varrrooom! Its jet exhaust... frying chickens in the barnyard!

              •  a pistol = anthrax? hahahahahahaha well that's (0+ / 0-)

a novel approach anyway...I say they should never let old BUFF pilots fly a regular plane or they might forget and try to bomb downtown........

Makes about as much sense as your gun=anthrax analogy....

    •  Amen. As a police officer, and as someone who (7+ / 0-)

enjoys going to bars once in awhile to hear a good country or bluegrass band, I totally agree. Alcohol and guns = insanity.

Guns are never the principle in the commission of a crime, but they are usually an accomplice
