    should they have control over whether it can be searched when you get pulled over? Not all Americans agree with all SCOTUS decisions.

      IT is the law. No warrant required. There is no 4th amendment protection for this information because you already gave it willingly to a third party.

      And the USA PATRIOT Act extended the definition of a pen register to include all aspects of internet communications, which means all email metadata, Facebook metadata, Google metadata, Skype metadata, etc. etc. etc.

      There is no reasonable expectation to privacy of the fact that you dialed a number from another number according to this ruling, and that extends to no reasonable expectation of privacy that you sent an email to an email address from another email address. You already willingly gave up that data.

      If you don't like it, you need to amend the constitution.
