    I was in DC (and still am) for last year's as I waited for a friend at the CVS in a DC suburb. One of the most awesome weather sights I'd ever seen. I watched it roll in sideways like an avalanche of clouds, looking like it was ready to touch ground (which I guess it kind of did). Grew up in the Midwest and was sure there'd be a tornado. What came was about as horrific. It literally blew me through the doors of the CVS as I told folks I was sure a tornado was coming. When it hit, couldn't see beyond the doors at first, tree branches and leaves whipping by, then hail that clogged drains and then a curtain of rain, several inches in about 20 minutes. Lights flickering, some folks crying, everyone wide-eyed. I was astounded. Never seen anything like it, including funnel cloud formation in Illinois.
