No tax and actually stay out of the government via activism and/or lobbying.

Otherwise, when we tax 'em at the normal rate, call them political organizations, and they can lobby all they want.  Oh, and that includes property taxes.  On everything.  Back ten years.  Payment due net 30, no slacking or you go to jail.

    And then actually enforce that.

To say, stay out of government is easier said than done.

What about "feed the hungry" activism?  Or "end apartheid"?  Or "pass civil rights legislation"?  Or "end slavery"?

I can agree with the the idea of no lobbying, as in not paying for professionals to go do it for you—but then, I believe that should be true for EVERYONE.  If your company wants to lobby, go send an exec.  And no paying for some schmoe to stand in line for you; do it yourself!

But to say no activism allowed is, well, very hard to police.

Very hard to enforce. better off just to tax them all at a reasonable rate and move on. You shouldn't be tax exempt because you gather together to pray to the invisible man of your choice...just sayin'
