I'd say that as a matter of raw population, Markey by 10 seems about right at the moment.

I recently moved to Springfield, home of probably the least reliable Dem Party machine in the state.  I've seen no indication that they're actively backing Gomez, rather, they seem to be sitting on their hands.  If that's the general posture across the state, Markey should be OK.  He's the sort of Dem (non-machine, pro-environment, pro-peace) that plays well with the critical swing voting white suburban women in the 128-495 belt, although Gomez does have the "hunk" factor in his corner.  (Which is not supposed to be a factor, but sadly it is.  Locals will remember how Romney's 2002 poll numbers soared after the "swimming pool" ad, and Scott Brown was of course best known for his work as a nude model.)  Anyway, if most of the Dem machines turn out the loyal vote, and the worst like Springfield and Lowell just sit on their hands and don't work for Gomez, it should be Markey's race.
