Joan cites has Gomez down 26 among women! It's tied among men. It's also tied among independents and Gomez is pulling off no more Dems than Markey's getting self-identified Republicans (we do have some who put not voting for a moron over party).

Scott Brown's path to (narrow) victory was thus: (1) Win the male vote; (2) while keeping the deficit among women under 10 points; (3) win independents nearly 2-to-1; (4) peel off a quarter of registered Dems while the opponent gets barely any Republican votes.

Gomez is 0 for 4. After the primary he HAD a decent lead among independents, now he's tied. How's he planning to go back up by appealing to a demographic - women - that does not like him?

"I am not for a return to that definition of Liberty under which for many years a free people were being gradually regimented into the service of the privileged few." Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1934
