we're going scouting for our Christmas card photo, this year we want to include the dogs so we're looking for places close to home. We have endless desert vistas to choose from so what we're looking for is the immediate background and of course the visual pun if it's to be found.

    •  One year, back when I made my own xmas cards... (4+ / 0-)

...I found a picture of Sir Noël Coward standing in the desert outside of Las Vegas, wearing a tux and holding a cup of tea. I copied the photo, drew a Santa cap on his head, and on the inside of the card I had just one word:

      NOËL
...then sent it to a professional printer. It was a big hit with those of my friends who got the joke. :-)

the joke make it all worth it I think. That's really clever silks, I would've laughed and then called you! Some of our friends in far places do that, it's a lot of fun. In fact it's my favorite holiday tradiition.

said " No'el', Merry Christmas.......etc." We should look for neon signs that are missing their 'l' or 'el' letters lit.

Many years ago there was a hit play on Broadway called The Hot L Baltimore, about the denizens of a seedy residence hotel. The title was a play on the imaginary hotel's broken neon sign, which ought to have read "The Hotel Baltimore." :-)
