    What do you think of my idea that there is a component of protecting economic privilege along with a component of adultism in why our schools are so backward?  Curious at your thoughts (or anyone else's) on this!

      is definitely a part of the equation.

      I never really understood the model of prescribed curriculum at prescribed ages, regardless of interest or aptitude.  We are so fixated on checking off lists of skills and measuring progress against norms that we sometimes fail to see the gifts each child brings to the table.

      Protecting economic privilege is probably also a part of it, though in my experience, even elite prep schools use a lot of the same methodologies, just at a higher level.

      There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast.
