  •  The difference between private corporations (7+ / 0-)

and public corporations is that when the privates collect information and make demands, they do not have to be obeyed.
The problem we have is with the Congress and the state legislatures which authorize the establishment of private corporations. If our legislators were so inclined, they could impose even stricter limits on the private corporations than are imposed on them by the Constitution. They could insist, for example, under penalty of dissolution, that private corporations respect individual human rights in all their dealings with individuals, domestic or foreign, including just compensation for their work. Instead, what our legislators have done is give private corporations a blank check to exploit both their employees and their customers to their heart's delight. Why? Because, when you come right down to it, a goodly number of our legislators resent the limitations imposed on them by the Constitution and rely on private corporations as surrogates, to impose the deprivation they'd like to visit upon us themselves.
Why are our legislators keen to deprive? It's what some of them assume rulers get to do. They don't want to be public servants. They prefer acting like petty potentates.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
