If China were to do what you say to Snowden, they would be kissing goodbye to the prospect of receiving any further defectors.

Already, just by revealing the extent to which the U.S. cyberhacks China, Snowden has done an enormous favor to the PRC.  His revelation totally discredited the U.S.'s complaints about Chinese cyberhacking.

The influence of the [executive] has increased, is increasing, and ought to be diminished.

Which is why we lose the moral high ground when we lecture others to not do that which we do (torture etc...)..

    •  Well, assuming Snowden is defecting, (0+ / 0-)

who wants defectors?  What is this, 1950? Nobody wants defectors, they want information.  Who the fuck wants Snowden to BE there?  The days where the USA or the USSR gets to crow about obtaining an important defection are long gone.

Same with the "totally discrediting" (which, by the way, thanks, Snowden, you turd): that can be done at home.

    •  Wait, you're coming pretty close to accusing (0+ / 0-)

him of colloquial "treason".  I don't think his actions meet the legal definition of "treason' but the actions you praise meet the legal definition of lesser charges along the same lines.
