View Diary: Solving Rape? - A Very Short Statement For Those Who Just Don't Get It! (358 comments)

  •  Yes, a culture that supports rape. (0+ / 0-)

Excuses rape, enables rape, ignores rape,

Words are meaningless in light of all the actions taken and not taken that have gotten us to this place and time.

    •  A bogus blanket statement. (0+ / 0-)

They aren't just words, they are actions.

Every Company size element and above is required to have two SHARP (Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention) representatives and two victims advocates.

Every Soldier is required to attend regular SHARP training, which includes defining sexual harassment and assault, UCMJ actions that can be taken against you, prevention measures, the importance of looking out for each other, etc.

There are multiple avenues of reporting that have been established, from the victims advocates to the sharp representatives, to the Inspector General, the Provost Marshal, the local hospital, the chaplain, or the chain of command.

These aren't just words, these are actions. Let me guess. Your familiarity with the military comes solely from the Internet and "I have a friend or relative who"

      Please proceed, Governor.

      •  Whatever dude, I lived it. I dealt with the (0+ / 0-)

bullshit directly on a daily basis in Uniform. I fought the good fight and it wasn't worth shit. It didn't do any good. I know because the young women I meet now in the service, tell me the same stories I told.

Wow. The more things change the more they stay the same.

        •  You lived it? (0+ / 0-)

When? What branch? What was your MOS?

That's nice that you've met young female servicemembers. I'm quite sure I personally know right now more than you've met.

If my own daughter wanted to join the service when she's 18 I would welcome it. And I'm VERY protective of her.

          Please proceed, Governor.

          •  And let me guess, I am supposed to give you (0+ / 0-)

every sordid detail of everything that ever happened to me to prove to you, that I know what I am talking about?

            You are sick.

If my own daughter wanted to join the service when she's 18 I would welcome it. And I'm VERY protective of her.
If you know what is going on now in the service, and you still say that, then you are either in denial or you don't have a daughter.

            Now Eff OFf.

            •  That's a hell of a guess. (0+ / 0-)

Did I ask you for every sordid detail? No. I just had to point that out because your post could leave the impression that I did, and I know an honest person like yourself wouldn't want to mislead anyone.

I'm still in the military and you got out 18 years ago. I know more about what's going on than you do. AND I really do have a daughter. And I stand by my statement that I would absolutely support for joining when she turns 18.

              Please proceed, Governor.

              •  Yea, you did. You implied it. (0+ / 0-)

Why? Because I didn't pick a military username--

Goddamned, when you pull your head out and figure out which way up is, you be sure and get back to me.

Cause I want to see that.

                Otherwise.

End of Discussion, you have been incredibly insulting and rude and I can tell by your posts that you are completely unaware of it.
