  •  The Boomer generation (5+ / 0-)

to a large degree is keeping SS alive so when they out because the younger folks can't get jobs or if they do..decent paying ones.   Then we have wars continuing to take up budgets.  The rich don't pay taxes ..the very poor pay little if any.  This is the crunch.
The 401K's  I never had.  At 63.. I did retire at 62 and people need to figure out if it is best to.  In my case, it was because of dependent children.
There is no easy way to live off social security as we have veteran benefits and that too is tough....The chained CP
I is ridiculous and cola is all we really have to even try to keep up as we do not get food stamps.
We do not eat that healthy because one cannot afford to really...but we do OK...Lots of dried beans....and living in Florida we do have access to fruit and vegetables grown here.   Well I guess we eat healthier than many but I agree with the diarist.. I already see the grown kids sticking pretty close to us as we age.   Things are not quite as easy with every year that passes.
We as boomers had the good fortunate or bad which ever, of knowing what the Boom of the 60's as complicated as culture issues were, the industrial revolution meant a healthy middle class and we remember.

We the People have to make a difference and the Change.....Just do it ! Be part of helping us build a veteran community online. United Veterans of America
