    26 years in government, doing a crucial job that requires a unique skill set.  Sorry I can't get more detailed than that.

    I could be forced off If I was too disabled to work.  But then they might offer me a different position I could do.

    Of course a stroke is a stroke, etc.

    What would Mothra do?

      But for those of us in more mundane positions it's not so secure. I may do valuable work, even saving lives ( for real ) but when budgets are cut they are cut. As I write the governor has proposed having much of what social workers and psychologists do in schools be transferred to teachers, and he looks poised to get his way, as the Dems do little to stop him.  I will eke out 25 years, andmaybe a few more, but the younger folks are screwed.

        That is painful to hear.

        I worked very hard for and in my position but I was lucky too.  The rare opportunity came and I was in the right place at the right time with the right skill set.
