This show also featured the young Johnny Crawford with whom I'd been in love since his Mickey Mouse Club days and who now spends time with the Prairie Home Companion troupe. I popped on the image of the young sweetie with Chuck just for a lark, only to see gunslinging Dennis Hopper featured in an episode. Lordy!

You have to watch it again to see just how tiny Johnny Crawford looks next to Chuck Conners. It is hilarious. I also had a crush on Johnny Crawford. Now I see the two together and I think. What was I thinking?

Chuck Connors also played First Base for the Chicago Cubs?

... okay, then, did you know what game show host had a son who also played First Base for the Chicago Cubs?

Peter Marshall (Hollywood Squares) had a son Pete LaCock who played for Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs, and then in Japan.

I always do imitations of the Rifleman, Mark, and Micah, usually about going to town to buy flour and maybe pick up a woman, Pa.

and the Brooklyn Dodgers briefly, but he also played pro basketball for my Boston Celtics.

            Big right-winger though.

dated Chuck Connors before marrying my grandfather. They came from the same Brooklyn neighborhood. Funny thing is that his cousin (also named Connors) married my grandfather's cousin a few years later.
