    Mature trees can have trunks that are a good 4 feet wide, which doesn't really leave room for branches, unless you limb it up so cars can pass under.  Even so, the roots might suffer being that close to the road.

    Also, as it grows, watch out that someone doesn't come in the night and cut it down for a Christmas tree.  It happens.

      I assure you no one is going to steal this one.  Besides, there's a balsam fir planted next to my front porch.  They make much better Christmas trees.  They smell wonderful, too.  Alas, they also take forever to grow.

      I guess I'll move the Norway a few feet.
