  •  Our "justice" system is not about justice (9+ / 0-)

As many minorities already know, out "justice" system has never been fair.  One of the biggest problems is that is based upon vindictiveness and revenge. It has always been tilted toward harsher punishment for poor and minorities, but now the tilt is moving into the political enemies territory as we are seeing with the harsh treatment toward whistleblowers, even though who tried to go through the "proper channels.".

It has become extremely apparent as we saw how the very wealthy banksters were rewarded and allowed to walk after nearly destroying the world's economy and after destroying thousands of lives. In contrast, we see them incarcerate a young person for years for a relatively minor crimes under mandatory sentencing guidelines without a chance of rehabilitation or parole.  Add to that prisons for profit, and system ceases to be "just."  As a result, we lead the world by far in the number of persons incarcerated.

We do not have justice in this country at all.

    •  We need better judges (0+ / 0-)

and they need to let people get jury trials and not play the game of throwing cases out with summary judgement so people can't get to the jury trial.  Every once in awhile I read about a judge ruling fairly in a case and it's sweet when that happens.
