    I would disagree with conservatives having only one answer for everything.  If you wander over to their websites, they are often a bag of cats worse than their brethren on the left.

    I have some arch conservatives in my family.  Some are even evangelical right.

    But I have found that if you listen carefully to what they say and respond respectfully, you may get surprising results.  I am not saying concede anything on principle just to get along.  I am just saying listen respectfully.

    People are not cardboard cutouts. And they change and adapt.

    I have a brother in law who is as right wing as they get.  But now he is a big pro-environment guy.  Why?  Because the theology of his church shifted over time towards a guardian of the earth approach.  He hates Obama but backs more spending on the environment.

    Many people on the right are similarly complex.  But if you start the discussion by throwing a punch, or in a fighting crouch, you would never discover that.  Or the common ground that surprisingly exists on quite a few topics.
