    ....there's over 20,000 federal, state and local laws and ordinances already on the books. Chicago has the toughest gun control laws in the nation. I hear what our side is saying and all the political posturing and you know what? No law is worth the paper its printed on, if it isn't enforced.

    Nobody has proposed just how we are to "persuade" a hardened career criminal, thug or gang member to turn in his guns. Not even the cops who are loaded for bear would even attempt to enforce any such law because they want to go home to their families after their work shift is over, too!

    Except for the mentally ill who should never own or possess a gun at any time, every other proposal on the table today addresses the ones that are the least threat to society: the law abiding citizens, that go to work, play by the rules, pay taxes, don't have a parking ticket or a record of violence. It takes 20 minutes for the police to arrive in an emergency. And here in Philly, PA, 20 minutes is a lifetime! It takes 5 or 10 seconds(depending on how scared you are) to lock and load and defend yourself from somebody who has nothing to lose, and would shoot a cop faster than they would shoot you.
