  •  I found myself in one of the photos (8+ / 0-)

    But won't say which one.

Ok. I don't watch Portlandia, never saw even one episode. But the food trucks seemed ok to me. We have infinite varieties of food trucks in Los Angeles, so not sure what was supposed to be a problem with these particular ones. What did I miss?

    •  I live in Portland so I watched one (6+ / 0-)

did not laugh except when I decided, for fun, to write a "New York" script. Making fun of a place, being kind or mean, is easy. Here's a sample of a "funny" New York bit.

a couple enters one of those horrible NYC studio apartments with the rental agent. Door closes, multiple locks are locked. They look out the window to see a brick wall about 6 feet away.

Man: Ooh, and it's got a view!

haha, right? That's about the humor level of Portlandia. And about as insightful.

    •  Do you usually wait an hour in line to reach the (8+ / 0-)

      truck?

The workday in downtown Portland is spaced as to not have every employee downtown going to lunch at the same time. Also our pods have many more carts than what was provided.

      •  No, but we usually have lots of other options (1+ / 0-)

Like restaurants.  I generally like to take lunch later, to avoid the crowds, no matter where I am.

Also, I made a point of leaving the Convention Center very quickly and headed down to the food trucks (that's what we call them in LA) so I didn't have to wait an hour.

Call it the wisdom of age, or whatever you please, but by this time in my life, I kinda know how things will go if I don't move expeditiously in that sort of a context. I suspected there wouldn't be a large number of food trucks, ergo.....

More trucks would have been nice, but other options would have been nice, too.

But, the food I got was tasty, must say.

(Also, btw, there were non-Netroots trucks in Providence some of us visited.)

        •  Except those of us in the (0+ / 0-)

NN zone ie: too distracted by what is going on to realize lunch had started, did not get there promptly. Also those attending and running booths had no clientele in the CC at the time while still having to stay there and make sure their stuff was not plundered while they went off to lunch.

Personally I was incapable of being in a line in the sun and had to forgo that meal. And even going out there to take photos burned my skin and dehydrated me. And actually due to my food sensitivities and restricted diet was not able to enjoy any of the meals provided the entire weekend.

          •  Yeah, needed some coordination (1+ / 0-)

I can't stay in sun too long myself. And indoor options should have been more available. I did get a sandwich from the folks in the back of the Town Square one day. But am fortunate that was an option for me.

So-- to next year's planners! Listen up!

(That said, I did like the food trucks.)
