  •  It's funny, that Utah gubernatorial candidate (2+ / 0-)

was actually assumed to be our best possible non-Matheson candidate, since he (Peter Cooke) was a moderate two-star Army Reserve general with no negative policy ideas or scandals, and some roots in Utah. A lot of people thought he might have gotten to the low 40s, vote percentage wise.

The problem was that even disregarding the Romney wave and Utah's basic Republican lean, he was kind of a terrible candidate. Uncharismatic, a terrible campaigner (he spent at least 5 days going to classical concerts and other low-profile, high-cost places, and besides my own stint at the state convention, I never saw his campaign workers), and too timid to really go after Herbert or express any strong view. Oh, and he wasn't well-known, at all.

Leftist Mormon in Utah, Born in Washington State, live in UT-04 (Matheson).
