  •  Another tasty piece of not so secret info... (5+ / 0-)

Do you know the NSA has their very own wafer fab at Fort Meade?

When they need machines fixed by factory reps that don't have a clearance, a soldier with an M16 is close by.  Kinda freaky...

What kind of little nasty bugs come out of there?

Anything you can imagine, they already have.

    •  Well, the 2001 anthrax came from Fort Detrick. (5+ / 0-)

But the scary initial propaganda worthy of Goebbels government-approved leak ABC news report by Brian Ross that the anthrax came from Saddam Hussein persisted just long enough to serve its purpose: ginning up support for invading and destroying Iraq.

So I won't be surprised if scary stuff happens that is initially blamed on foreign powers.

Whereby the "smoking gun," the custom hardware, is years later proved to have come from Fort Meade.

"Lone guy who worked there went rogue. Yup, that guy who just commited suicide. Case closed."

    •  Actually I'm not sure that's a bad thing; (3+ / 0-)

if by "Wafer" you mean silicon wafer. I'd rather the NSA et al use chips they make themselves, than buy them from a commercial source that's inserted back-door access to the data. And this has happened. So it's a reasonable precaution.
