  •  Even Ecuador (4+ / 0-)

I have seen, in recent days, so many people willing to push the idea that Ecuador is an enemy, which is not even remotely close to the official position of the US government, let alone something that those of us in the masses should ever believe. Of course, it seems that the tiff is over now, with Correa caving in, but even if a nation like Ecuador has the audacity to defy US desires, that doesn't mean the rest of us, even those who strongly support Obama, should just decide that they're an enemy.

They are working with Russia right under our noses.

      Lsst night:

Russia will decide the destination of fugitive US intelligence analyst Edward Snowden, who is currently holed up in Moscow, Ecuador President Rafael Correa said late Saturday.

"To process the asylum application, (Snowden) must be in Ecuadoran territory," the president said in an interview with the private Oromar channel.

"At this moment, the solution of Snowden's destination is in the hands of Russian authorities."

Ecuador has soil in downtown Russia.

Ecuador even has a limo that is rolling Ecuador soil.

Thank you. I should check myself before making such a conclusive statement like "Correa caving in", especially since all the rhetoric is grounded in diplomatic-speak. It looks like he might hold the line yet.

Ecuador is in a tight spot here, regardless of what direction this goes, so it makes perfect sense that Correa is trying to share some of the responsibility with Moscow, which is better equipped to go toe-to-toe with Washington.
