    anti-gay bigotry:

    It essentially says of gays that they are incapable of romantic love, as straights feel romantic love.  One of the deepest and most important human emotions:  You subset of people, I do not believe that you feel it like I feel it.

    Because obviously gays don't feel romantic love for members of the opposite gender.  Thus, denying the validity of a gay person's love for his/her partner, is denying his/her basic humanity.

      The heterosexual/homosexual/-sexual divisions just make some folks focus purely on the sex (but only for gay folks as they are the Other). To these people, all gay people do is think about sex; every waking moment is spent in hedonistic abandon, gay men walking around in priapic glory looking for straight men to (invariably) sodomize.

      Now in my experience I've found that many straights only just highlight their disgust with gay males. Lesbians are either invisible or they're categorized as either 'butch' or 'femme' and only in the porn or comedy contexts.
