    ...why aren't your benefits as good?  I'm not a union member, but I believe that we all should be in a position of being able to negotiate good benefits and good pensions for years of dedicated service.  Not to mention salaries that increase year over year to match cost of living adjustments and seniority.

    I'm lucky enough to be in one of those industries where I can (as an individual) negotiate for those types of things.  I don't think the question should be "why should they get those things when I can't get those things" but "why shouldn't I be able to get those things."

    And for the record, I ended up having to take the ferry into work today from Oakland.

      I live in a right to work state so have no legal ability to try forming a Union without being fired (which would nullify the goal of forming one).  That's why we need strong Fed Labor Laws.
      I'm glad you're in such a great position but not all of us can call such shots.
