  •  Agree entirely. I like to regard Walker... (7+ / 0-)

...and the GOP majority on Wisconsin's high court and other elected state offices as The Wrecking Crew. Some of them know they're breaking stuff but they're nevertheless doing it. They're all for representative government, but only insofar as it represents their interests and beliefs and nothing else, period. Authoritarians, through and through. They think being simplistic and dramatic and playing the divide-and-conquer card is all that's necessary to change attitudes and beliefs. However, as Republican Abe Lincoln said, you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

Authoritarians, I think, tend to be people who at some hidden level doubt the wisdom and logic of their most firmly held beliefs, which is why they push so hard to impose their beliefs on everyone else -- an apparent, overwhelming majority is their very thinnest comfort blanket. Even then, guys like Nixon and Walker aren't happy if they don't have 105 percent allegiance. The beatings will continue until morale improves. But of course the good times never quite arrive, because a.) they've have in fact really screwed things up and b.) because they wouldn't actually be happy if the good times were to arrive. Because whenever the USA is in a period of relative good times, they're the dudes who are most sour about it.

This is a group who regard self-actualization as something to be achieved by forcing change on others, rather than accepting it in themselves.

The amazing thing is how some of the women and minorities in the party (a declining component of the party, of course) don't see how their own are being used and abused. Don't see, or deliberately overlook, for their own selfish motives. Some insecure people just feel better upon joining a gang.

    •  The big problem with Republicans (5+ / 0-)

is stupidity.  They don't see the big picture, how everything is connected, how they're part of everything and affected by everything.

A great example is Badger Care/Medicaid which the Walkerites hate with a passion.  They don't recognize that farmers use Badger Care and that the largest Medicaid expendature is nursing home care.  Nope.  They refuse to see it.  They hear and believe that Medicaid is a freebee given to lazy, mooching minorities.  It's what they're told and they believe it's been spoken by God.

They get it 24/7 from those high powered RW radio stations that saturate the state and no counter with the truth from our lazy, corporate media.

They also don't care unless something affects them personally.  Sadly, lack of empathy must be a qualifier for Republicans.  Even sadder is that Republican policies are going to come for them.  Soon.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.
