Can you imagine, just for a moment, what would happen to you if you testified under oath, lied, and got caught, and your defense for lying was that you "didn't understand the question"? In a criminal or civil matter.

You swore to testify under oath, lied your ass off, and got caught, and your defense was "Uhhhh, Derp?"

Rage comes to mind. Derisive laughter too.

You'd probably get laughed at all the way to your own arraignment.

Harsh justice for thee, but not for me.

    "I didn't understand the question."

It's another log on the 'what would people say if a criminal floated the establishment DC powerbroker playbook lines' for why we just need to stop worrying our silly little heads over what the grown-ups do and move on from the wreckage like bad things just happen.

Wars are like Earthquakes, we can't predict how they get started.

Lying under oath and saying something isn't happening when it is, and getting exposed later on for doing it when additional information comes to light, is like a monsoon rain. These things just happen some times of the year.

    "Mistakes were made."
"We need to look forward, not backwards."
"I want to spare those affected by the burden of having to litigate this matter."
"It's divisive to gin this 'old news' back up".

This man committed a crime, in a town full of folks who think that one kind of classified information leaker, the one who does it for partisan or personal gain, is a political tool, and the other kind of leaker, any other kind, is clearly a traitor to his or her country who must be hunted down. And if they have to leak top secret national security information to win a PR war about the other leaker? Done, done, and done.

Even if they leak the same thing, just with a different spin on it, to the same person.

Not surprising in a town where being a professional liar is cool, but earnestly calling somebody a liar because it is the truth is beyond the pale.

I am a Loco-Foco. I am from the Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic Party.
