  •  Pretty solid and exactly what I expected. (5+ / 0-)

I didn't want to rain on anybody's Davis parade because I like her a lot and she's certainly got a future if she plays it smart.  For starters, she shouldn't run for governor.

If she's smart and ambitious, she uses her perch and base not for Governor, but for Senator (against Cornyn). That's the race she ought to enter.

I'd like to think there was a way for her to capitalize on her fame and beat Perry, but I don't think so. Perry is well established in the state and has a natural base among Texas' vast social conservative community. It isn't small and they vote.

I disagree with kos on this one. She should challenge Cornyn, not Perry.

    •  YES!!!!! A thousand times yes! She should go (5+ / 0-)

after Cornyn!  Perry isn't as anti-immigrant as Cornyn and it's Cornyn, not Perry, that will help make Texas blue.  Ted Cruz is also helping out with that.  BBB, I'm down for starting a Draft Wendy Davis For U.S. Senate campaign if you're down.

I think she'd get creamed worse in a federal race in Texas.

If you're not talking about what billionaire hedgefund bankster Peter G. Peterson is up to you're having the wrong conversations.

      •  No way. Abortion isn't a state issue. (1+ / 0-)

That's the issue where she's planted her flag. That's a national issue.

The only way to nationalize that race is to run for a national seat. As long its a local matter, Texas is going to stick with a Republican male.

Perry is salivating to run against her, trust. She's the perfect opponent for him and will unite the GOP behind him. That's an easy win for him and anybody who knows Texas politics says so.

Cornyn, however, is a different thing. He's never had a tough opponent and isn't beloved by anybody in Texas.
