(to quote a famous essay).  :-)

The left-progressive world-view, with its critique of empire and the United States, has never found a good fit with the majority of people, at least those who vote.   The same is true with the critique[s] of capitalism.  Even in a Great Recession/Depression, there was no real movement for fundmanetla economic change.   Occupy faded quickly, and it never achieved the status of a movement.

On the other hand, empire and capitalism are interrelated and many of our problems stem from both.  I explored this in the GPUSA back in 2000.  You can "keep truth alive" and build for a future that likely will come, if at all, after one's death.

The reform capitalist road, however, has its own problems.  Supporting Democrats, which I do for the most part, helps people, but the system continues.

I chose the Democratic Party path, but I see both as problematic and no third or fourth way.

Minimizing to the exten possible the pain of others seemed moral and the other paths seemed to go nowhere.

So it's always back to "what is to be done"?

The probem is the people's views.  Until people chanfge their ideas, much damage will occur.  So how to "we" influence people?

I worry that Dkos has devolved into an echo chamber (even with its divisions and flame wars).

It's a bigger probem than I can solve.  Organzing on the ground seems more useful that arguing on a blog.

    Just rambles.
