    He's not the most charismatic, inspiring speaker. Of course, Gore and Kerry nearly won, and Brown probably has them beat.

         The first time I heard him was when he was in the House during the NAFTA debate. I thought he gave one of the best arguments against that trade deal. I have also been impressed with his speeches more recently. He does have that weirdly distinctive sort of gravelly voice. I like it but others may disagree.

           His wife Connie Schultz is a newspaper columnist. She is a brilliant writer; a  warm, funny and compassionate progressive. She would be a great candidate for FLOTUS.

      So was Kerry, but like the narrative about Gore being a liar, the media invented that Kerry was a bore.
