...coming". Guess what? I've already seen drones patrolling my neck of the woods. The first time I saw one, it flew by my bedroom window at tree top level, no higher than 100 feet. The month and year? February, 2012. Did I report it to the local news room? Yes. Fox-29 Philly, Pa. Their response: Unintelligible. Almost blissfully, if not willingly ignorant of the fisherman's net closing in on them. Basically they dismissed me out of hand, calling me a nutcase who needed serious psychiatric help asap.

Unarmed drones are a tripwire and a trial run to condition the huddled masses for the armed drones coming next,  to see what the public's response is, to gauge whether there's any public outcry, at all. They're a precursor of bigger and better things to come. And many have argued here for years, that the purpose of the Iraq war was really to learn assymetric urban warfare tactics for future use here.

But of course, we are all "good Germans'", aren't we? "We The Sheeple" refuse to face the cold, hard reality, when it's staring us in the face. We'll never believe it until the day that full-blown police state finally comes to America in all of its glory...for the empire, naturally and in the name of "protecting us from terrorists". Of course.

Until then, I don't care if anybody believes it. I'll probably be the first on their list among those deemed an expendable impediment, a rabble rouser and trouble-maker, earmarked for neutralization. Then, once loose cannons like me who don't run away from tyranny but fight it with all their hearts, minds, and power in the depths of their souls are out of the equation, it's all but a fait accompli, academic.

You don't have to like me. And I don't need anyone's validation; never have tirangulated my politics for popularity or acceptance. But for your own lives and family's sakes, open your eyes while it's still daytime. Nighttime is upon us. The darkness of the coming storm is already on the horizon!

I haven't seen any yet.  But we're in a flight path to Phila airport, so we get all kinds of things flying over us, and most of them sound like commercial jets but at times we get some other aircraft, probably something military and very large, given the low and strong rumbling sound, and usually in the wee hours.  Before the Iraq war we'd hear those a lot.  We also have a nearby hospital that is a trauma center, and a high level neo natal unit, so we get the medical helicopters a lot.  But so far, no drones that I know of.

I was at a book tour event in the city about a month ago.  Outside there were people protesting making the airfield in Horsham into a drone base.  Are you near that?  I'm wondering where the drones that you have seen were coming from.  If it was flying that low, you'd think it was soon after take off or coming in for landing. They are not going to fly surveillance drones at low altitude. They are going to want to keep them very high and hardly noticeable.

...I live in SW Philly only a few miles from the airport. But I'm not in the flight path of the usual air traffic. I've done lots of research on drones, seen a lot of youtube videos and the sound is unmistakable. Being a direct descendant of German Jews, I've also studied Hitler's Reich for over 35 years, reading everything I could get my hands on since I was 6 years old. The sound was something like the unmanned buzz bombs sent over London in the final days of the war. But make no mistake about it, the sound woke me up in time to put a set of eyes on it as it passed by my window. It was definitely a drone. Whether armed or unarmed, I do not know.

was a toddler when those V1s or V2s were being sent over London.  He has told me stories. They are so distinct that his mother had him trained at 2 yrs old to know the sound of it and to come warn her.  So I know exactly what you mean, can understand how you feel.
