  •  I honestly don't know. And I'm not trying to be (18+ / 0-)

    argumentative.  But remember Bush's "stimulus?"

Mailed checks to every family in the nation.   If that had been repeated a few times more, the economy would have been boosted more than by tax cuts for business.

Obama has been better for social issues, but those don't cost neoliberal elites any money and wallpaper over their greed just a bit. He's been a bit better on the environment, raising CAFE standards and saying some good things.

But remember?  Ever Bush was quoted as saying that gasoline is too cheap and that the US has to cut back on their petroleum habit?

In other words, as assholian as Bush was, I'm not totally convinced that Obama is all that much better than Bush would have been next time around.  And I'm sure that's being planned right now.  Either Jeb Bush or George Prescott, the half Latin, half white son of Jeb, will be pushed to national leadership within the next few years (Jeb) or ten years or so.  George Prescott is now preparing to run for statewide office in Texas, just as "W" did:  his first office not at the city, or county, or even state representative district level, but statewide as his first office.

The same money that was behind "W" is now prepping George Prescott, just as they prepped "W."

The forecast that latino demographics mean the Republican party is doomed is highly optimistic. Follow George Prescott.

And I always like to note that Prescott Bush, George Prescott's name-sake and great grandfather, was on the board of directors of a company accused of aiding Nazi Germany during the war.

Bush was one of seven directors (including W. Averell Harriman) of the Union Banking Corporation, an investment bank that operated as a clearing house for many assets and enterprises held by German steel magnate Fritz Thyssen.[6][7] In July 1942, the bank was suspected of holding gold on behalf of Nazi leaders.[8] A subsequent government investigation disproved those allegations but confirmed the Thyssens' control, and in October 1942 the United States seized the bank under the Trading with the Enemy Act and held the assets for the duration of World War II.[6]  (Wikipedia)

So, anyone who doesn't think that presidencies are intricately tied to, and compromised by, the military industrial complex, as well as a global elite of 1%, is really just denying reality.
