  •  Even that argument (0+ / 0-)

requires that you include representatives from the West and Midwest. So your laying the entire problem at the feet of the South is a function of ignorance, prejudice or dishonesty. I am really tired of this kind of bluster on Kos.

    •  Who do you blame (0+ / 0-)

the gullible patsy or the flamboyant leader of the mob?

      •  are you saying (0+ / 0-)

that all of the Republicans, except the Southerners, are gullible patsies? I think they all know exactly what they are doing. I think that your prejudices are showing.

        •  I think (0+ / 0-)

that power within Republican politics is centered in the south.

Yes I think republicans in other non southern states are are gullible patsies

The Republican party itself exists as weapon of economic/political war extending from civil war era political structures.

The republican party is controlled by southerns for the profit of southerners.

It serves to steal wealth and from urban and Midwestern states where productive people produce the wealth of this nation, and redistribute it to areas to southern/non productive areas.

These non productive areas continue to waste their money and refuse to properly invest infrastructure, education, and various other const centers which result in long term economic growth.

Republicans in the midwest and other areas and tricked into supporting this outright theft. This is NOT to their benefit thus the patsies label.

The general south has become and albatross/leach on this  nation and those who are paying the primary price are mid westerns .

          •  OK, now we're getting somewhere (0+ / 0-)

A few comments on your post.

"that power within Republican politics is centered in the south."

yes, but parts of the South will probably be the first Republican stronghold to jump ship to the Democrats.

"Yes I think republicans in other non southern states are are gullible patsies"

            A ridiculous assertion

"The Republican party itself exists as weapon of economic/political war extending from civil war era political structures."

The Republican party itself exists to win elections and increase it's own power. It's tendency to do this by ruthless appropriation of any and all rightest elements has given it a good run for the past 20-30 years, but will also be it's undoing, thank God.

"The republican party is controlled by southerns for the profit of southerners.

The Republican party is controlled by apparatchniks and wealthy donors in an uneasy alliance with culture war demagogues. The current distribution of Federal funds represents a relatively recent phenomenon, as the geographic distribution of Federal funds has alternated between different regions of the Nation throughout its history. Your assertion that it is some sort of Southern plot is paranoia and totally ignores the the West and Midwest (this goes back to your ridiculous assertion that they are "patsies".

"These non productive areas continue to waste their money and refuse to properly invest infrastructure, education, and various other const centers which result in long term economic growth."

See above, shows no grasp of the history of Federal spending or the current economic situation in the nation.

"Republicans in the midwest and other areas and tricked into supporting this outright theft. This is NOT to their benefit thus the patsies label."

So when currently blue states were seeing more Federal funds going into the State than they were paying in Taxes (Massachusetts for much of the 80's for example) was that "theft" too?

"The general south has become and albatross/leach on this  nation and those who are paying the primary price are mid westerns."

            What is the "general south"?

The actual South (as defined by the US census is around 1/3 of the US population, including the majority of the US African American population and the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the US.

There are going to be some states which contribute more, there are going to be some states which contribute less.

However when you get a contribution level that is so completely offbalance  as it is now that becomes theft. That is the situation now.

              http://taxfoundation.org/...

7/10 least contributing states are all from the same geopolitical region.

The line in between contributing and non contributing states is more or less the same  between the divisions during the civil war.

IF you have some numbers pertaining to a Northern version of this in the 80's I would be interested in seeing them.

However obviously that has now stopped and reversed. At best I would argue that was theft by the north than, and theft by the south now.
