the people in this community that think it is a valid argument to attack the person and not their arguments. LakeSuperior or anyone else here should not be challenged based on employment. However, it was nice to read even those meritless attacks smacked down.

Thanks for the Diary. It is important that we stay science based and reality based in discussions and arguments. We don't want to be the opposite side of the crazy ideological coin. There are good reasons to be weary of fracking and important issues like regulatory enforcement that we must organize around. Doing so with solid science and legal understanding is the best way to go.

Thanks for your diaries LakeSuperior and sorry for the douchebaggary thrown at you.

because I'm messing with a powerful thing.....a widespread
public conflation bubble created by the Gasland
activity, and breaking people off from something they have come to strongly believe in....getting unplugged from the conflation --- isn't always going to be very pretty or neat.

Sad (but predictable) that folks refuse to seriously consider the science on both sides of this issue when it doesn't fit their narrative.  I feel it is entirely reasonable to require industry disclosure on the chemical composition of frac fluids. I would like to see more focus (in the way of strict standards and regulatory oversight) on the casing and cement installations.  But this is not new technology, and could provide (is already providing) a cleaner and more economical bridge fuel away from coal.    I encounter way too many well meaning folks that have a woefully deficient understanding of the basic science involved in oil and gas extraction.   I have also seen Josh Fox on the telly a number of times and it is painful to see him flail around on the science as well.  He seems careful not to get in the ring with anyone that might rough him up on the facts.

Just because someone is good at using technical jargon that goes over most people's heads doesn't mean their arguments are factually accurate. Arguing against evidence that fracking has contaminated drinking water and suggesting that unions don't often lobby for polluting projects are not honest arguments.

      A dose of reality:
