  •  That scene in Avengers DID bug me... (7+ / 0-)

Especially considering that the rest of the movie was so good...

Course it was also revealed during that film that the group with that power was that they can't be trusted considering they were more than willing to nuke New York, even WITH the "Good Guys" controlling the power.

Course, I'm a Captain America fan, so I'm biased.

the movie as well and took it at face value. I have a great deal of context and understand what the government is supposed to be able to do legally and what they can not do. Millions of kids who watch that movie, if they catch the scene most likely walked away with the sense that the government can collect information if it will keep us safe. This is a theme that is becoming dominate whenever we are presented with a false choice between keeping us safe and catching the bad guys.

      stuff like that.

Look at the first one: Stark builds weapons. That gets him in trouble. Answer? Build more weapons, and use them himself.

      •  I am of the opinion that Iron Man... (0+ / 0-)

Is the direct Marvel analogue of Batman.

Only slightly more realistic as to how a 1%er would fight crime.
