    We're now an "empire", and harboring a wanted man (doesn't matter whether we're glad he broke the law, he did break the law and still has additional information with him) is "affirming sovereignty."

    Venezuelan President Maduro actually made it clear that the move to accept Snowden had more to do with proving Venezuela is not afraid of the U.S. than in protecting Snowden.

    Apparently he is in precarious political position and this will truss up his standing.

    It's not really that awful or far-fetched to say that any leader on the planet has more motive to take him in than simply to "nobly do the right thing".  

    Should we speak it out loud?  No.  

    There are some things we don't need to broadcast to the world. ;)
