    There's neo-conservative.
    Then, there's DAY-um.
I believe the Republican party has lasted this long because a lot of people, including most Republican women,  fall into the first group and just don't feel comfortable with the liberal Democratic party.
Sooner or later someone is going to say 'Right, that's enough of YOU silly buggers' and declare a split.
The old party (the GOP) will keep the Joe Arpaio's and the Rush Limbaugh’s, the teahadist's and the evangelista's.
The offshoot party (the Grand New Party) will get pretty much everyone else.  You're a minority member who opposes government over spending, but isn't happy about your own party trying to make it harder for you to vote?  Welcome to your new home.  You're a woman who never expects to need an abortion, but really doesn't see how it's the governments business if you do?  C'mon in.  You're anyone who doesn't want to vote Democrat, but are tired of being embarrassed by elected officials who gleefully and enthusiastically brag about their ignorance of the basics of biology, science or economics?  Here's your option.
Then the GOP leaders will find out that all those nice gerrymandered districts are worthless if nobody in them wants to vote for someone who wants to declare climate change illegal.
