  •  Take everything he says with a huge grain of salt (7+ / 0-)

he's not super well connected with the state's Democratic bigwigs like Beshear and the Lundergans.

I'd also be rather astounded if it ended up being that expensive. MA-Sen was about $85 million and it has roughly 50% more population and a huge expensive media market in Boston.

McConnell and his allies might get $30 and ALG and her allies $15-$20 but I really can't see spending getting anywhere close to $70

I like Yarmouth's politics, but statements like these always turn out to be bluster.

    •  Yeah, it seems like a high figure. (0+ / 0-)

Without knowing much of anything in the way of firm numbers, just how many ads could they possibly run? Is the advertising going to start in February? I guess they could also supplement this stuff with mailings and billboards and similar stuff, but how much could that cost? And unlike some states, the KDP seems strong, so it wouldn't surprise me to see not nearly as much spent on campaign infrastructure.

    •  Also saw a silly tweet (0+ / 0-)

by Brad Dayspring (I sometimes browse to see if there's any news) that says that 1.7million being spent already on KY-Sen is awesome as it's money not spent on other competitive races, ignoring the fact that a large majority of that expenditure is pro-GOP.

      •  Did you hear about the latest problem for ALG? (0+ / 0-)

Apparently, some sort of fundraising email went out to county clerks, most if not all of them Republicans, but at least one Democratic clerk said she didn't get the email. Here's the article.

Hmm, let's see. A simple mistake is certainly possible. I doubt it's a legitimate attempt to pressure people. After all, who would send it to Republicans? Are they really going to feel pressured to send it to Grimes, a Democrat?

And really, doesn't that quote about undue influence from the Republican in the article sound like nonsense? I ask this because I wonder if they are playing games on their side to make her look bad. Is that possible?
