Republicans have only been in control of the legislature in NC since 2010--and in control of the governorship since 2012.

Before that, Republicans hadn't controlled the legislature for over 100 years.

Sometimes people don't vote for the same collection of assholes they voted for the last time.

If they changed their minds once, they can change their minds back again.

Just because the government keeps a record of real property transfers, it doesn't mean that the government wants to confiscate your home.

is the very same reason they're so likely to keep it now.  Money + maps = majority.  For 100 years the Democrats controlled the electoral maps, and because they could do that, they could maintain a majority in the NCGA.  Until 2010.  Which was a census year.  Which is what made it so critically important.  And now the bad guys have control of the maps.

I find the reports of the bad-and-getting-worse public opinion more encouraging than the idea that we might have to wait until 2020 or even later to reclaim a majority in the legislature.  But if the Repugnicans keep shooting themselves in the foot, maybe they'll do the job for us.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.

    •  Republicans in Alabama (0+ / 0-)

Have only been in charge of the legislature there for a few years too, but in reality they have been in charge for decades because the opportunists who called themselves Democrats when it was convenient switched and declared their loyalty to the GOP when the winds changed direction.
