    A big fat "national security" loophole that will make it all irrelevant.

    This is PR for Eric Holder, I believe.  Snowden saved his ass, basically, because there were very loud cries for his resignation right before the Snowden files.

    Also, DoJ is apparently urging Congress to build their definition into the shield law, and that's part of the reason why they came up with these definitions.

    But again, like anything else, it will have a national security exemption in it.  The rule of law and democracy has been subverted and undermined by the constant claims of "national security!" and this current unitary executive, corporatist, forever war government cannot function without it. They've kept us under emergency mode for the past 12 years and I haven't heard anyone talking about lifting that.  They are just changing the way we wage war, more secretly, more special ops and automation, changing the internet into their new battlefield with the cyberterrorism crap and huge, huge $$$$ pouring into it, etc.
